MY MOTHERING SUNDAY ..........

Yesterday was Mothering Sunday, here in the U.K.

A religious festival, celebrating motherhood has existed in Europe since Neolithic times. In later years, Mothering Sunday became a day when domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mothers and other family members. It was often the only time that whole families could gather together.
By the third decade of the 20th century, people in Ireland and the U.K. started celebrating Mothering Sunday on the fourth Sunday in Lent, and, yesterday was it..........

Well, on Saturday we took our number one son and his wife to the airport as they were flying off on a month's holiday to Austin, Texas, San Fransisco, Seattle and New York !!!! It's alright for some, isn't it ?
Number one son and daughter-in-law off the hook as far as Mothering Sunday was concerned !!!! haha.
BUT.......

Lovely Number One daughter and boyfriend, booked us a table at a wonderful restaurant in London ........ points and a gold star for Number One daughter and a permanent place in the will !!!! hehe .............

The restaurant is Galvin's in Spitalfields in the City ..........

It is in a converted church and has the most wonderful atmosphere so, to our daughter's dismay, my camera came out for some photos for my blog !!!! Friend's and family don't like this part of blogging, where I am forever taking photo's in case I do a post on it, hence the slightly out of focus pictures, as I have to do them in a hurry because everyone starts moaning at me !!

This was my mother's day present and card....more points for number one daughter, as she made the card, bought me a pressie and wrapped it beautifully, cementing afore mentioned position in the will !!!!

Loving food as much as I do, I ate my starter and main course before remembering that I should have taken photographs but, here is one of my dessert... chocolate fondant with banana ice cream and cinder toffee....de-lic-ious..........

Well, that was my wonderful, special day and, to everyone out there who still have their mother's with them and don't celebrate Mothering Sunday, give them a special day out, once in a while. It makes us feel good and, you can gain valuable Brownie points in the process !!!! haha.

I'M.....PUTTING ON MY TOP HAT ..........

I thought that, with all of the talk about my top hat , I should show you all a photograph of me wearing it. The camera is in front of my face to hide the saggy jowls that are heading south !!!! haha. You can now give me your opinions as to whether Waitrose Supermarket is ready for it, and me, to be seen, pushing a trolley down the aisle !! As you will see from the following, I am in very good company when it comes to the wearing of the posh head attire, although, I don't think that they would have been seen, doing their weekly shop, with their top hat on !!..........

.......... Nadja Auermann for Vogue U.S. September 1992 ..........
Oh, Dustjacket Attic..... I'm not tryting to steal your glory !!

.......... Marlene Dietrich, 1930 ..........

.......... Fred Astaire ..........

.......... Madonna ..........

.......... perhaps, I should stop wearing it and turn it into a lampshade,
Jane @ Peartree House I might need your help for this !!
.......... Alice ..........

.......... and, me again. Well, what do you reckon ? My children would disown me if I dared to do the shopping in it !! Maybe it should stay in the hat box until there is a grand enough occasion to wear it ? Maybe I should have auditioned for Alice in Wonderland ?.......... or, maybe I should just grow up !!!!!!!!!!

I'VE BEEN A NAUGHTY GIRL !!!! ...............

Oh, woe is me....I have been a very bad blogger. I have broken the code and will probably be ostracized from the blogging community, stripped of my awards and sent to blogging Siberia !!

I have agonised ..........

.......... wept ..........

.......... thought of running away to sea ..........

.......... living in a wood, where no one can find me ..........

.......... where , with so much time on my hands, I would descend into deep depression
..........
.......... and, why, you ask..........
Well, a long, long time ago, I was kindly given quite a few awards and, on my last post, thanked two of the lovely girls who so kindly bestowed these on me. But my crime was that, two other such lovely ladies did the same thing and I forgot them !! Left them out !! Treated them like dirt!! Didn't mention their names or their blogs .... and now I will be thrown to the blogging dogs , sent to Coventry and cut off without a follower to my name !!
I will try and make amends and thank them all now..........

I was also given the Kreativ Blogger Award by the lovely Mimi @ Bonjour Romance and from Clarity @ Clarity in Wonderland both of whom have wonderful blogs.
Mimi shows us around Paris, where she lives, with such style and elegance and you will want to jump on a plane or a train and get to Paris as quickly as you can because her photographs are a joy.......... and Clarity just takes you inside yourself and makes you think, ponder and reflect with her beautiful words and contemplations.

Then, I was given the Sunshine award from two other wonderful bloggers. First from Pam @ Red Ticking and then from the lovely Jeanne @ Collage of Life . Pam has the most wonderful blog full of the most delicious furniture and home furnishings you ever did see. I could have each and every piece that she shows, in my home. It is gorgeous..... and Jeanne is an expat, living here in the U.K. after living in New Zealand, Australia and the States. Her blog is filled with interiors, fashion, cooking, books....... oh, everything you can think of and she is so kind and loyal, always giving lovely comments...... oh, and by the way, she is having a giveaway at the moment, so pop over and see her, comment and you could win a terrific prize.

............ and then, I was given the 5 Diamonds Award by Julie @ Being Ruby
and by Luiza @ Luiza's Feeling's
If any of you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that Julie and I are great blogging buddies. Julie's was one of the first blog's that I came across and we have been friend's ever since. Her blog, Being Ruby, is an absolute joy, filled with her beautiful photographs and wonderful text. Luiza is a lovely Swedish girl from Stockholm and, as soon as Sweden is mentioned, then you can tell it's going to be a fantastic blog. Filled with her clever photography and lovely things that she makes, it is a lovely place to go.
Many thanks to you all for giving me these awards and, if you don't want to disown me or throw me into the fires of Hell, for my tardiness, then I'm most grateful and I will try to be better in the future !!
I'm supposed to pass these awards on but, as this post has taken me forever and I want to get it up so you all know how sorry I am, I will pass them on later.
Have a rewarding weekend !!!!

YET 7 MORE THINGS ABOUT ME !!!! ..........

Dear Susie @ The Mill House kindly gave me the Kreativ blogger award, as did my dear friend Luiza @ Feelings , ages ago and it has taken me so long to get round to doing my 7 things about me so, many apologies for the delay, Susie and Luiza. I have done this a couple of times before and, not wanting to repeat myself, I am scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit here so, bear with me ..........

First of all, funny things happen to me....for instance, the other week, I was going out to lunch with my friends . After my shower, I was in the bedroom deciding what to wear. In our bedroom we have solid wood two tier shutters and I always leave the bottom set closed and have the top ones open, so covering my modesty from the prying eyes of passers-by or the people in the houses opposite. Well, I sat down on the bed to put my tights on, stood up to pull them up, facing the far wall and, to my great dismay, shock, horror,........ when I turned around, there was the window cleaner staring through the window !!!! Aarrghhh. Oh God, soooo embarrassing. A little later, I went downstairs to pay him. He told me that it had only happened to him once before and hoped that I was O.K. about it. I told him that, at my age, I was passed caring !! Well, at least I had my knickers ON !!

Next, I think that I've told you before that I love black......but, it's got to the point where I don't even entertain another colour. I do try. I take something that I like into the changing room in all of the colour options, including black, of course. I try them all on and always decide on the black one because it always looks the best. I'm just an old rock chick at heart !!

I love old houses. The house that we live in was built in 1890 but, the one that we lived in before was built in 1648. It is so amazing to me that the Great Fire of London hadn't happened and King Charles 1 was on the throne.

I love hats. Top hats are my favourite but I do like bowler hats as well. I don't wear them often enough really and would like to wear them on a regular basis but, you don't see many old women in the supermarket in a top hat do you ?

I am a bit of a dreamer and fantasise about, Pirates, Mardis Gras, Masked Balls, Princes and Princesses. I'm sure that, to have lived in the times of swash buckling pirates, the intrigue of Henry VIII's court or life in Venice in the 1700's was not as romantic as we like to think it was, but it's fun to pretend.
.

As you have all probably noticed, exclamation marks feature heavily in my posts. I find that I can't help using them. After a particular sentence, my finger automatically and quite naturally is pulled by some force of gravity, to the top left hand corner, where that exclamation mark key is. I know that it is 'par bon' to use them. They say that, if you have written the sentence properly, you have no reason to use them. I apologise to all of you brilliant writers out there. I'm sure that you would never dare to use an exclamation mark. I'm afraid that I will continue to use them as I feel that they put my point across without the possibility that something that I've said could cause offence without their use !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have highlights ! Yes, it's true. These beautiful blonde highlights are not the result of the sun, kissing my hair with golden glints but 3 hours of BLOODY boredom, sitting in a chair and reading the escapades of celebrities and who's cheating on who, and who is three sizes below zero and how many of those tiny dogs they can fit into their £10 million handbag EXCLAMATION MARKS TO INFINITY.

Now, the rules are that I have to pass this award on but, an extra thing that you didn't know about me is that I don't like disappointing people so, this time I am going to give it to each and everyone of you. Please take the award and show us all some more in depth things about yourselves...... and, please go over and see Susie as she has a beautiful blog, lives in a most wonderful part of England, shows us around the area where she lives, and gives the most wonderful comments so, it will be worth your while !!........... and, you must visit Luiza. Her blog is a beautiful journey through photographs and all things Swedish. She is the kindest girl and loyal and generous so, please pop over to see her as well.
Have a great week and, make sure that you do things that require exclamation marks !!!!
