Tamsin Flower's cheerful London home

There's one thing I'm low on at home; rugs. I find them the hardest thing - not only are they a big investment but they can also make a huge impact on a room (i.e. I simply can't make up my mind!). That's why I felt so inspired when I came across Tamsin Flower's lovely, colourful London home. Tamsin is the UK arm of Beldi rugs (with business partner Emma Wilson on the ground in Morocco), an online shop selling beautiful unique, hand-crafted vintage Moroccan rugs. Tamsin's home is packed with mid-century, retro and flee market finds which she's collected over the years. She also has plenty of statement Moroccan rugs too (obviously!), which add a cheerful pop of colour around every corner! Perfect inspiration for the weekend, don't you think?!

It's amazing what a difference these beautiful rugs make to a room, don't you think?!

I also spy: Lucky Boy Sunday cushions. Mid-century furniture similar to Tamsin's here! And, of course, there's those rugs from Beldi Rugs.

I love the black board on the back of the kitchen island - such a smart idea and perfect for keeping a little one occupied while trying to whip up lunch?!

Tamsin's business partner Emma lives in Essaouira, Morrocco and rents out stunning award winning properties such as Dar Beida, two hours from Marrakech - imagine kicking back here for a week?! Just. So. Fab. I think a holiday is in order....

An elegant Swedish space with a mid-century touch

I do love a little high ceiling elegance and this apartment embraces it by keeping the walls white and the look pared-back, adding a only few select mid-century pieces. Combine this with original white washed beams and floaty linen curtains as room dividers and the result is a serene, grown-up living space. My eye is on the detail too - instead of one large landscape picture above the dining table the owners have used three portrait images. Herbs hang in the window and plants and flowers can be seen in every single frame. Lucky it's spring - as everything we need is right outside our door right?! Oh and did I mention this space is for sale....?

A little about where things are from: Source hanging plant holders here. Mid-century furniture is available at Lauritz and Live Auctioneers. The pretty brass light in the kitchen is similar to the golden bell and the chairs are series 7.

Other homes with a cool mid-century touch include this Berlin space, an apartment in gothenburg and this truly fabulous house. Or for something completely different -how about this surfers home in Australia? Now, that's brightened up my day no end, how about you?!

It's a short week here in Sweden as it's Valborg (or walpurgess night). A pagan tradition, villagers gather around bonfires across the country to ward of witches, who were believed to ride on their broomsticks to higher ground and cast evil spells on the eve of 30th April. And tomorrow it's the May day spring festival - and I love any talk of spring!

A cool vintage industrial style Stockholm pad

Oh hello Friday, how lovely to see you! And you brought the sunshine with you - you make my heart sing....! Today's industrial functionalist (or 'funkis' as the Swedes like to call it) apartment belongs to Hannah and Christopher Bastin and daughters Irma and Klara. Located in Vasastan, Stockholm, it's been artfully decorated with a cool industrial bistro style kitchen and a fab dose of mid-century throughout. I'm loving the plants, vintage furniture and pops of hot pink. What a perfect pad for the weekend, don't you think?! I've got my eye on those wine glasses....

Most importantly that wine glass storage: to get the look you can find a similar rack here. Or buy stainless steel prongs in a local hardware store and fix them to the wall like the owners have. On it!

Another nice detail (shown in the set of pictures over at Elle Decoration) is how Hannah has made a montage using menus from her favourite restaurant. Wat a great idea on so many levels?!

Many of the other items seen in the home have been found at flee markets all over the world - inspiration to go get hunting?! My favourite places online to find vintage / industrial items are Etsy, Ebay and Lauritz.

I love industrial style bathrooms with this one being one of my all time favourites, and I could soak for hours in this bath, beautiful right? I'm also a huge fan of outdoor baths and showers - part of the plan for my dream summer cottage....one day! What does your dream cottage include?

The lovely, relaxed home of a Danish student

I love this relaxed home of communications masters student Julie Wittrup Pladsbjerg which she shares with her boyfriend in Aalborg, Denmark. Julie is a keen writer and interior decorator and recently did an internship at one of my favourite Danish interiors magazines BoligLiv. She loves to mix old with new and has a big thing for plants, which can be seen dotted around the apartment. There are so many details I love about this space - the black and white wall in the bedroom with the low shelf as a side table, the DIY shoe rack in the hall, the open dressing room. Did your home look as cool as this when you were a student (I'd love to say mine did)?!

A few items I know and love: Kubus 4 candleholder, string lights, Eames DSW chair, Tom Dixon copper shade pendant, string pocket shelves, Hay clamp light.

Pretty greens and blues in a Copenhagen home

This lovely 1920's Copenhagen home in a former sculptur's atelier is decorated in the prettiest of pretty greens, turquoise and blues. It's one of those homes which never goes on the market - owner Josefine Bentzen, an award winning industrial designer, who lives here with husband Steen Piil inherited it from her parents. The couple have decorated the space with the perfect blend of romantic country, mid-century and scandinavian modern to create a truly unique and personal home. What a treasure?!

My Mum works in a former artists studio in West London and the space is structured in a very similar way, with the same high windows on the walls and an angled sky light. The windows are also likely to be north facing to ensure reflected or indirect light which helps the artist have greater control over values, contrasts and subtle colour changes within a painting or sculpture (if you live in the southern hemisphere these would face south).

Artist or no artist, wouldn't it be fab to have windows like these in your home?!

Other items I know and love: source a vintage Cobra phone on ebay, try Lauritz for a RAR rocking chair, or Design Collectors for a modern version. Mid-century credenzas are often coming up here.

I love the idea of spaces that have an interesting past. Previous spaces I've shown include a former carpenter's workshop, an artist's home in a converted button factory and a family home in a former kindergarten. So wonderful, don't you think?!

Could you go all out geometric?

At the start of the week you're a allowed to go a little all out don't you think?! That's why I wanted to share this home in The Jardine district of Sao Paulo with you. The space belongs to a young lawyer who returned to Brazil after a spate in Italy. He commissioned famous architect Filipe Hess to renovate his newly acquired apartment to it's orginal 1950's former glory and at the same time reflect the relaxed European lifestyle he so enjoyed in Italy. The result is a beautiful mix of mid-century and industrial. And not a corner without a geometric pattern of some sort. Kind of cool don't you think?

I am in love with the kitchen and bathroom floor, how about you? You can source geometric floor tiles here (any other tips?).

Or simply add some patterned accessories from the likes of Norsu or OYOY. And for the colour shy and the non-comitted I came across this fab monochrome peel and stick, removable honeycomb wallpaper.

A Danish home with a warm soul and quirky touches

Here in Southern Sweden there's a winter storm on it's way (again). I think there's something kind of cosy about being indoors while the wind howls outside, don't you? Plus it creates time for all those projects. This Danish space belongs to Dorthe Kvist, a landscape gardener, stylist, and interior designer and her husband and two children. Situated in Vanlose, Denmark. the family home is perfect inspiration for this type of weekend since many of the items within (shelves, tables etc) have been made by hand. The space has also been decorated using a mix of sentimental items such as photos, inherited furniture and flea market finds as well as modern ceramics and quirky touches. The result is a cosy, personal space with plenty of soul. I could ride out a storm here, how about you?

There's just so much to take in from these images - but I think my favourite thing about this home is the use of colour from pastel pinks to bright yellow. How about you?

And one final project for the weekend - I'm fascinated by the VIPP shelter -apparently it's hidden somewhere in the forests of Sweden and VIPP are going to hold a competition to guess where it is. I wonder if the shelter is the prize? If so, I'm putting my running shoes on.
